Student Assistant

Ali Carter, '15 (Biology of Global Health, minor in Spanish)
Washington, DC

This summer, Ali will be working with the team producing "Introduction to Bioethics," the KIE's first in a series of massive online open courses distributed through edX. As part of the team, she will advise on activity design and interactive assessments.

After taking a course on bioethics that was co-taught by KIE Director Maggie Little, Ali became interested in studying bioethics and working with the KIE.

Ali brings firsthand experience on online teaching methods: Last summer, Ali served as a teaching assistant for a blended learning course at Tufts that focused on palliative care and end-of-life issues.

Outside of bioethics, Ali is a member of the student group Futures in Science and Humanities and an editor for the Georgetown chapter of Triple Helix, where she also helps organize events that promote discussion among faculty and undergraduates on science, society, and the law.

"I'm excited to be at the Kennedy Institute for the development of this project and join in the energy and enthusiasm that already surrounds the MOOC," says Ali.
