The Georgetown 2016-2018 Mellon Sawyer Seminar "Approaching the Anthropocene: Global Culture and Planetary Change", would like to invite you to our first Fall 2017 event, "Writing Climate Now," to be held Thursday, September 21, 4-6 pm, in Copley Formal Lounge on Georgetown's main campus."Writing Climate Now" is a roundtable discussion of strategies for writing persuasively and accurately about environmental disaster and climate change. Pessimism or optimism? Scientific or poetic? Discussion will include matters of tone, audience, venue, and tactics with four local writers: Dagomar Degroot (History, Georgetown), Mabel Gergan (Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow in Environmental Humanities/Geography, Georgetown), Shiloh Krupar (Culture and Politics, Georgetown), Evan Berry (Religious Studies, American).The roundtable will be followed by a reception to open the 2017-2018 year. All are welcome.
