Scholar Submits UN Climate Change Proposal

On October 9-12, 2011, KIE Senior Research Scholar Henry Richardson participated in the 7th Ordinary Session of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST), an advisory body of UNESCO, at the Science and Technology Park in Doha, Qatar. As a member of COMEST and newly-elected Rapporteur, Dr. Richardson played a highly active role in drafting the statement, “A Framework of Ethical Principles and Responsibilities for Climate Change Adaptation,” which was finalized and adopted at the meeting. The statement provides a framework of ethical principles for governments and other actors in their efforts to adapt to climate change.
