KIE MOOC preserved in DigitalGeorgetown

The Kennedy Institute of Ethics’s Introduction to Bioethics massive open online course (MOOC) is one of the latest additions to Georgetown’s university-wide digital repository.

DigitalGeorgetown is a set of tools and services for education and scholarship at Georgetown, and is already home to a number of collections from our Bioethics Research Library.

“The idea we’ve settled on is to parse the MOOC into week, section, unit and create PDF copies of all the HTML course content,” explains Mark Hakkarinen, Head of Information Services at the KIE. “This includes transcripts, [activities], quiz questions, discussion prompts, etc. The course info, wiki and map will supplement this too.”

Those with a GU login can access the repository starting in early September to watch as our first MOOC is frozen in metaphorical amber. The course itself can be accessed anytime on the edX platform, and will continue to run in audit mode until the next iteration of the course goes live in April 2015.
