KIE Scholar to lead international group-writing exercise

Kennedy Institute of Ethics Senior Research Scholar Henry Richardson will serve as
one of two Coordinating Lead Authors for the “compass setting” chapter in a large international group-writing exercise called the International Panel on Social Progress (IPSP). The first working meeting will be in Istanbul August 27-29, 2015.

The IPSP aims to “harness the competence of hundreds of experts about social issues,” and will deliver a report addressed to all organizations, politicians, and decision-makers equipped to make and manage social change, according to its website. It is a non-partisan, independent, international gathering of social scientists and social theorists.

The 2015 conference in Istanbul will be the first general gathering of the authors and will launch the panel. Anchored by two public lectures given by panel members, the meeting will also involve interviews with for the preparation of video documentaries that will supplement of the report.

Dr. Richardson’s chapter will focus on conceptions of justice and the good as they serve to set the compass for future progress.
