Several KIE faculty members were invited to present at Haverford College’s new Ethics in Science Symposium, established with a university gift meant to enhance and expand programs that promote ethical leadership across campus.
Dr. Laura Bishop, Head of Academic Programs at the KIE, will speak on a panel titled The Pedagogy of Scientific Ethics with Dr. Autumn Fiester from University of Pennsylvania and Dr. Christopher Feudtner from The Children’s Hospital of Philidelphia.
Dr. Robert Veatch, a Senior Research Scholar at the KIE, will join Dr. Ruth Guyer of Haverford College and Dr. Jonathan Moreno of University of Pennsylvania on a panel titled The Ethics of Clinical Trials.
Dr. Madison Powers, a Senior Research Scholar at the KIE, will join Dr. Anne Barnhill of the University of Pennsylvania (formerly a Greenwall Fellow of the KIE), Dr. David Groenfeldt of the Water-Culture Institute, and Dr. Christiana Peppard of Fordham University on a panel titled Environmental Ethics – the Ethical Provision and Distribution of Food and Water.
Hosted by the The Marian E. Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center (KINSC), the conference stands as a bold and innovative new initiative that encourages ethical leadership and the development of ethical leaders in a time where student demand for increased programming that cultivates ethical leadership and advances peace, justice, and human rights is at an all time high.
