KIE and Ethics Lab Selected to Present at SXSW EDU 2018

The KIE and Ethics Lab were selected to present at next year’s SXSW EDU conference. The conference, taking place in Austin, Texas March 5-8, aims to promote innovation in learning by hosting a community of forward-thinking stakeholders with a shared goal of impacting the future of teaching and learning.

KIE co-hosts symposium on health care, ethics, and genetics

Last week the KIE, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic, held a symposium titled Mendel’s Peas and Today’s Genes: Healthcare, Ethics, and Genetics. The event was part of the Mutual Inspirations Festival, which celebrates both a famous Czech and the transatlantic ties between Czech and American cultures.

KIE and Ethics Lab host ‘Integrated Ethics Day’ for Georgetown Core Pathways Program

The KIE and Ethics Lab hosted more than 100 students in a seminar on the ethics of climate change this week. The seminar was a component of Georgetown’s Core Pathways program, a program allowing undergraduate students to fulfill Georgetown’s core and elective requirements through an interdisciplinary collection of courses that address a complex global challenge. This year’s focus is climate change. Participating students come together for an integrated seminar twice a semester on the year’s selected topic.

Dan Davis talks collaborative online learning with the KIE

Last week, the KIE held a workshop on positive collaboration in online learning environments, led by Daniel Davis, a Georgetown Communication, Culture, and Technology alum and PhD candidate in Learner Modeling & Learning Analytics at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. The session focused on promoting effective collaboration and discourse among students in online learning environments.
