J. Young is a Clinical Associate Professor, Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Chungnam National University Hospital, Daejeon, Republic of Korea. He also is Adjunct Professor, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine, Chungnam National University, Daejeon, Republic of Korea. In addition to his medical degree from Korea University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea, J. Young has a M.S. degree in Internal Medicine from the same institution. In addition, he has a Ph.D. in Medical Humanities and Social Sciences from the Ulsan University College of Medicine in Korea.Dr. Young is a member of several academic societies including The Korean Society of Critical Care Medicine where he serves as Secretary of the Ethics and Law Committee and the Korean Society for Medical Ethics where he is a Board Member. He also is a member of The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, The Society of Critical Care Medicine, The American Thoracic Society, The American Society for Bioethics and Humanities. In April 2018, Dr. Moon received a citation from the Korean Minister of Health and Welfare for services related to the “Act on Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment for Patients in Hospice and Palliative Care or at the End of Life.”His research focus while at the KIE was on the theoretical bases and philosophical approaches to ethical issues in end-of-life care. He also developed educational resources for Korean Clinicians and members of hospital ethics committees on this topic. Dan Sulmasy, M.D., Ph.D., was his faculty mentor.J.
