A luncheon book talk with Carl Elliott MD PhD, who discussed his new book, The Occasional Human Sacrifice: Medical Experimentation and the Price of Saying No. Dr. Elliott, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Minnesota, is trained in medicine and philosophy, and uses his own experience as a whistleblower to frame six stories of unethical medical research, from the U.S. Public Health Service Study of Untreated Syphilis in Tuskegee, Alabama to lethal synthetic trachea transplants at the Karolinska Institute.
