Dr. Joel de Lara (PhD, MPhil, MA) is Assistant Teaching Professor of Philosophy at the Ethics Lab and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University, where he teaches applied ethics. His research is situated at the nexus of ethics and social philosophy (in particular, social epistemology), philosophy of language, and history of philosophy. He is the author of two forthcoming monographs: Unenthralling Knowledge: Reclaiming Ordinary Language Epistemology (Routledge) and (with Alice Crary) The Political Wittgenstein (Cambridge University Press). At Georgetown, he teaches courses at the intersection of tech ethics and bioethics and is leading an initiative on the ethics of AI and health. He is the proud recipient of a 2024 Career Champion Award, in recognition of his work supporting students.
